WHAT Claire SAYS….

“Daphne” has been a much treasured part of the family ( and extended family) for over two years.
She has enjoyed many adventures both close to home and much further afield.
On a day to day basis she has just been a great vehicle to use to travel around the island. Comfort
and visibility are second to none. She is a top of the range model, and the sound system takes
some beating – having the flexibility for Apple car play or android.
Being a hybrid, fuel consumption is extremely efficient and, again on the island, it has been easy
to keep her within the green charging band on the dashboard display. That said, she is no
stranger to mainland driving too and enjoys trips to Sussex where possible. Great for transporting
‘stuff’ to and fro, perfect for picnic days with the grandchildren, and memories have been made
eating fish and chips by the sea or high up on the Sussex Downs at Beachy Head.
Camping trips have been enjoyed here on the island at various campsites and further afield. She
even had pride of place at a camper van wedding last year and was one of the most popular vans
when it came to providing steaming cups of tea or coffee the following morning.
She is perfectly set up for wild camping too. The conversion was done here at Northstar and we
worked closely with Carol, Adam,James and the team to achieve our ‘perfect van’. We especially
love the under seat fridge (which holds masses), there is loads of storage space and the solar
panel can keep the electricity running for days. It’s just been the perfect set up.
The highlight for us was a drive through France and Portugal down to Southern Spain for two
months last winter. We drove across snowy mountains ( ably assisted by four wheel drive) to
reach the warmth of the Malaga region. Spectacular! We stayed on various European campsites
but also at ‘aire de repos’ which worked perfectly and we could be totally self sufficient.
We love ‘Daphne’ for so many reasons and are sad to say goodbye to her. She has been very well
looked after, regularly serviced and has just had a complete new set of tyres.
For us, at this moment, the sea beckons. Never say never though, I was brought up in the 1960’s
and ‘70’s travelling around in a ‘Commer’ camper van followed by two VW’s. Dad even
progressed to towing a caravan too. Camper vans are in my DNA and always will be!

Daphne has been regularly serviced, has a clean MOT until May 2027
